Following the collapse of the Minoan civilization (c. 1450 BCE), the Mycenaeans from the Greek mainland took over the island of Crete and converted Knossos into one of their Palace-centers. The native Cretan population, however, continued to inhabit Crete, earning the name “Eteocretans”, literally meaning the “true Cretans”.
In this video, we will talk about the status of the Eteocretans in the centuries of the Mycenaean hegemony, until the collapse of the late Bronze Age in 12th century BCE.
