Early 13th century BCE was a time of troubles in western Asia Minor. As the Hittite empire battled Mycenaean Greeks for influence over the region, the city of Wilusa (Troy) found itself in the midst of the conflict. Wilusa was ruled by king named Alaksandu, best known for the so-called Alaksandu Treaty which he concluded with the Hittite king Muwatalli II.
