The first episode of our Hittite Empire animated documentary series starts with early pre-imperial period of the Hittite-speaking polities. During the 18th century BCE, the earliest-recorded kings of Kussara and Nesha came to prominence. In the second half of the century, king Anitta conquered vast lands in central Asia Minor, assumed the title of Great King and compiled the earliest known texts written in the Hittite language.
